SPY (Swan Parish Youth)

SHHHH it's a secret society!  The Swan Parish Youth - SPY as they like to call themselves - are the youth group of the Anglican Parish of Swan. Since 2007, they have provided a fun and safe space for parish youth in school years 7-12 to get to know each other better, share ideas about living as young Christians and serving the Parish and the wider community in meaningful ways. The group meets monthly during school terms in the Parish centre, unless they are out having fun somewhere else! SPY encourages the members to be responsible for their own group, and develops student leadership in a variety of ways, but is supported by two adult assistants who meet all accountability and training requirements of the Anglican Diocese of Perth. They are also linked to Young Christian Students, an Australian wide organisation.  More information can be obtained through the Parish office.

SPY - Children In Detention Action Demonstration

Perth Young Christian Students

The leadership formation in YCS is unique, in that is allows students to direct their own faith journeys as they explore what it means to live as disciples of Christ in the contemporary world.  While on a recent camp some of our Parish youth members  contributed to this student film project about the YCS.  It is a fantastic example of how deeply young people can engage with issues of faith and justice.
